The Lounge Spa Cancer Awareness Gala Event
In aid of Al Jalila Foundation’s Brest Friends
We are all aware of the devastation Cancer leaves in it’s wake, not just for the person having to fight against it but for their families too, and having been affected by Cancer after losing all 3 of my Grandparents before the age of 14, I knew this was an event that we needed to be a part of and support. This stunning event was put together by The Lounge Spa located at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Clubhouse on the 14th October 2021 with the aim of not only raising funds for Al Jalila Foundation’s Brest Friends to help support individuals and families battling through their Cancer Journeys but also to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and how we can arm ourselves through early detection.
This event, the awareness and funds raised through it is extra special for The Lounge Spa as their Founder Tara Rowledge is a Breast Cancer Survivor! The Lounge Spa has recently celebrated their 1st Birthday at the start of October 2021, Tara set up and carried this business to success (with the help of her gorgeous team) all whilst undergoing Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Double Mastectomy, COVID 19 and remaining physical + emotionally fit in order to ‘Kick Cancers A$$’! This woman is a warrior, an absolute inspiration to us all and simply a beautiful person inside and out. We can not be more proud to have such an incredible partner on board with us.
Tara received incredible care, medical treatment and Cancer treatment from the fantastic team at the American Hospital Dubai. The American Hospital Dubai were in attendance at last weeks Gala event in order to raise awareness around the disease and how we can be our own saviours by checking ourselves, going for regular health screenings in order to diagnose early, as early detection can be the difference between life or death.
Breast Cancer Mortality rates have declined by 2% per year over the period of 2002 -2018. This is due to better screening and early detection, increased awareness and continually improving treatment options!
JGE put on a fantastic 3 course meal, their staff were exceptional and the beverages were continuously flowing. Thank you to the JGE team for looking after us as well as to your contribution. Once the information was provided to us from the Doctors of the American Hospital is where the seriously generous attendees dug deep within to raise an incredible amount of funds through a HUUGE raffle, a ridiculous Auction (there was even a Golf Cart up for Grabs, well done to Kelly and her husband for winning this cool prize) and an hilarious game of Heads or Tails. We eventually lost count but there was most certainly 100’s of thousands raised for this fantastic cause! Well done and thank you to each and every person who contributed through either of these channels, and do not forget, a portion of the ticket proceeds have been donated as well.
Aside from the monetary contributions, the sponsors of the Gala Event and The Lounge Spa deserve a massive thank you and shoutout for their generosity as the funds raised would not of been possible without them, and we are utterly blown away by your kindness, well done to all and thank you for your support as we have no idea who this may affect one day.
